I Fell in Love with Fall

Well, I've loved fall for a loooong time. I think it's always been my favorite of the four seasons (though after spending a few summers here in Washington, summer is gaining some points too). I love all things autumn. I love the colors: rusty red, pumpkin, brown, gold, green... I love the smells... oh, the smells here are so great. Smoke from people burning leaves, pumpkin spice in my Scentsy candle (thanks Mom!), cedar and pine and cold air, apples, mmmmm. Yes, I love the smells. I love bundling up a little in sweaters and soft jackets. I love how AMAZING and BRIGHT the autumn leaves look on sunny days, especially here with all the dark evergreens mixed in. Gorgeous. We've enjoyed an entire, full, complete week with warm days (mid-60's!) and it has been awesome.
I took Bubba on a Momma date on Tuesday and we both enjoyed so much going down to the floating pier and feeling the warm sun on our faces. It was unusually quiet and peaceful, just so beautiful. And when the waves from the passing ferry came to shore, we sat on the pier and let the waves rock us up and down. It was one of those times when you feel God's love and know that all is well and life is blessed.

Today was wonderful too - we went as a family to Howe Farm, a new "park" just down the road from us. It's just an old farm with acres and acres of grass and streams and berries and lots of old apple trees. It was so pretty with the autumn leaves. That's where we took the above family photo. Eldon found an apple on the ground and was just chowing down on it forever. I took a bite of it and no wonder - it was the BEST tasting apple I've ever had - grown on a great old tree with just sunshine and rain. Mmmm.
