Two New Temples

Jon, as you all know, is a fabulous photographer. We've just had two new temples built in Utah, and they have become great subjects for him to photograph. The Draper temple is about 10 minutes from my parents' home, and the Oquirrh Mountain temple is about 5 minutes from his parents' and sisters' homes. It is the newest one and is open now through August 1st for tours. My sister just got married in the Draper temple. Both are absolutely beautiful. It's so nice to have these two special and sacred buildings so close to us.

Jon climbed onto his sister's roof to snap this one of the Oquirrh Mountain temple with some unusual low-lying clouds behind it.

On a side note, the storms we've been having dealt a hot hand to Angel Moroni atop the Oquirrh Mountain temple this past week. A lightning bolt hit him - which makes sense, as he is meant to act as the lightning rod for the temple. The bolt charred his arm, face, and trumpet, which in turn protected those touring the temple inside and out that day. A crew will be re-gilding the statue soon. Jon took this photo the day after it happened.
