We just got home from a wonderful trip to Costa Rica! Half of the team Jon manages lives there, so he was going for business and we got to tag along for fun. :) It was a great trip. Costa Rica is a wonderful country, with very sweet, friendly people. I really felt safe there and we all enjoyed the warm weather - it was about 80 degrees each day.
I loved that EVERYWHERE we went, I heard exclamations of "Que lindo!" from everyone who saw our blond kids. They thought they were so cute (I can't help but agree!).
It was totally fascinating to me to see the brightly-painted homes with their tropical plants in the yards and clothes hanging on the line. Costa Rica was a photographer's dream - an endless display of color and detail. I was sad that I had to do most of my photography through the car window as we drove along. I suppose we wouldn't have gotten too far if I'd been able to take pictures of everything that intrigued me though! :)
Jon worked the first few days that we were there, so we had a wonderful "Abuela Tica" (Costa Rica Grandma), Joyce, and her friend, Lorena, take us around to the zoo and a volcano and such. They were fabulously helpful with the kids, and I was so grateful to have someone to translate for me.
On the weekend, we headed out to the coast and stayed at the Playa Flamingo Resort, which was really nice. Right on the beach, with yummy breakfasts (homemade cinnamon rolls and fried local cheese, need I say more?), and a great pool, and the friendliest employees. The first night there, we all swam in the outdoor pool, in 70-degree weather, under a bright canopy of stars. It was really neat. We spent the whole weekend exploring the beaches and swimming! Can't wait to go back!
Pura Vida!
