Eldon was confident that for him, "swimming" meant jumping into any body of water with his eyes open and mouth shut, and shaking his head back and forth. Uh, that's pretty scary. He literally thought he was swimming, and had no fear of water. We decided it was high time that this water baby and his older sister take some swim lessons.
We enrolled them at the Kamas pool, and I was SO impressed with their teachers and how much the kids learned. Eldon's teacher had a particular challenge in teaching him - dealing with the fact that Eldon couldn't be in the water without having his head in all the way every 5-7 seconds. I guess that was such an exciting skill for him that he couldn't help himself. Poor teacher had to repeat every instruction again, after pulling Eldon up from his water world. While it was a little exasperating, it was quite entertaining as well. He and Eve both have increased their skill level dramatically, and we will definitely be enrolling them again. I want them to be good swimmers (after all, who's gonna save me when I'm out in the water?).
