Happy Anniversary to Us!

Today is our 8th wedding anniversary. Wow! I am sooo blessed to have married such a wonderful man. Read my post, "Love That Guy" to understand what I mean. He's the best. I love you, Jon! Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart!

Here's a fun little getting-to-know-you about Jon and me.
  1. Who is taller? Jon at 6’3”. I’m 5’4”.
  2. Who is smarter? I’d say Jon is. He’s definitely more well-rounded and knows a lot about a lot. But I don’t feel dumb. I’m a much smarter seamstress, scrapbooker, and cook.
  3. Who is more sensitive? Me, I’m sure, but I’m not too sensitive (compared to the average girl).
  4. Who does the laundry? I do until it gets piled up as high as Jon’s chest, then he takes the initiative and throws it all downstairs in front of the front door… then the whole family helps sort and wash it. I always do the putting away (not necessarily right when it’s dry, but eventually…) Need I say that I HATE LAUNDRY!What are your sleeping habits? I have to sleep with just a sheet or light blanket, with my feet sticking out. Jon wears long pants and long sleeve shirt, and hides under 3 or 4 quilts (and sometimes asks if I can turn on the heater). ;)
  5. Who pays the bills? Jon makes the money and I disperse it.
  6. Who cooks more? I do. But Jon makes wonderful rolls every Sunday with Eve.
  7. What meals do you cook together? Summertime meals – Jon grills and I do the other stuff. And he helps out with other meals when he sees I’m struggling. He helps the most by playing with the kids so Eldon’s not screaming at me and pushing me away from the oven or sink while I'm trying to cook.
  8. Who is more stubborn? I don’t think either of us is really stubborn. We’ve got a good give and take relationship.
  9. Who is more clean? I don’t know. I DO the cleaning more often, but we both kind of have the bad “dropsy” habit and then get bugged when the desk or counter or whatever is piled with junk. We both enjoy it when the house is clean, though.
  10. Who has more siblings? Me. He’s got 2 sisters and one brother. I’ve got 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
  11. Who wears the pants in the relationship? My immediate answer is to say Jon, but I have to clarify that we make most decisions together. So maybe we share the pants.
  12. What do you like to do together? Sit out on our back deck in the evenings, watching our kids play and enjoying the gorgeous weather and surroundings. We like going out to eat, listening to music, talking about how to discipline our kids ;), taking pictures.
  13. Who eats more sweets? Me. But it we both had equal amounts of sweets available to us, I’d eat all the baked goods and he’d eat more of the candy/chocolate stuff.
  14. Guilty pleasures? Jon: tinkering around in the yard or making something (right now, he’s taking apart our old blender to use the motor for something – who knows what.). Me: taking a shower in the afternoon with the blinds up so the sunlight comes in and lights up the water drops. Don’t worry – we have no backyard neighbors… Yikes, maybe I shouldn’t have shared that one.
  15. How did you meet? We met in a Singles’ ward at ward family prayer on a Sunday night.
  16. Who asked who out first? Jon asked me, just the night after we met.
  17. What did you do on your first date? Jon took me to Olive Garden in Salt Lake City for dinner, then we went to watch "Quick Wits" (a "Whose Line is it Anyway?" type of impromptu comedy show). Then we sat under a tree by the Conference Center and talked for a long time.
  18. Who kissed who first? He kissed me first, when I dropped him off at his house after we’d known each other for about 9 days. Wo!
  19. Who proposed? He did –as we sat on a bench watching the sun rise over Fishlake. So sweet.
  20. His best feature? When we first met, I remember writing in my journal about his dimples, blond hair, blue eyes, and green car with a sunroof. Ha ha. I love his sense of humor and his ability to put his feelings aside for the greater good (something I have a really hard time doing). He's also extremely patient with the kids (and me). Another unusual quality that I love is that he always makes our weekends fun. They're not spent deep cleaning the house - we do some work around the house if needed, but always have a family outing or activity.
  21. Who eats more? I do. I bet Jon would contest that, but it’s true (he doesn’t see what happens in the kitchen when he’s gone all day!)
  22. Who said "I love you" first? I honestly can't remember. I asked Jon and he said, “I dunno. I’m sure you did.” He’s probably right. I held his hand first, though.

You two are so cute. It's so fun getting to know you still even though you're farther away.
