I just have to share with you how wonderful my husband is. Let me illustrate by telling you what happened Tuesday: I hadn't been feeling well (ear infection - man, those hurt really, REALLY bad! I'll have a lot more compassion for my kids next time they get one!). Jon was up w/ me and Eve all night, so he stayed home to work instead of going in. At about 4, I put Eldon down for a nap and laid down myself. Jon was still trying to work and Eve was watching a show. I woke up at 6:00 pm to the sound of the KitchenAid going. I knew immediately that Jon was downstairs making his fabulous homemade rolls for dinner. I could hear him talking to the kids and playing with them. By the time I came downstairs, he had the potatoes Eldon had chucked across the kitchen floor in a pot of boiling water, the rolls were rising, and he was working on finding a main course. What a sweetheart.
But this experience isn't an out-of-the-ordinary thing. I think about how grateful I am for him often. I often hear my friends "joke" about things they don't like about their hubbies, or just plain complain about them, and it always makes me feel bad. My husband is not perfect, no. But he is a good man and we work together and we respect each other. I think that's a huge key. Jon has amazing control over his emotions (something I'd love to learn!). He always comes home and gets right down on the floor to play with the kids, no matter how crappy of a work day he may have had. He never gets mad when he has to pull a pair of jeans out of the dirty laundry in the morning b/c I haven't kept up on it. He always compliments me when the house looks clean. He works as a complete partner in raising and caring for our children. He takes care of my needs, even those silly girly ones, like when I'm just upset or down for no reason. He listens and offers suggestions and love, and that's all I need to make me feel better. I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with a wonderful husband, who is also a fantastic father to our children. I love you, Jon.
