Eve was happily singing "One little, two little, three little Indians" yesterday when she suddenly paused and looked at me very seriously.
"Mom," she said, sadly, "Did you know that in the olden days, Indians, they didn't have toys - so they had to make them out of paper."
And then, wearing a very compassionate expression, she said, "And they, they, for their drinks, they just.. they just had to get water from their hose."
I smiled and tried to match her compassionate tone. "That would be very hard, wouldn't it?" I replied, doing my best not to laugh. Ah, kids. ;)
