Chocolate Chip makes mini chips...

My parents have a Dachsund named Chocolate Chip. She was pregnant when we moved in to their house. Poor little dog; this was her 6th litter, I think, and she was just dragging bottom (literally) towards the end of the pregnancy. Eve and I were looking at a book about Dachsund's and came upon a page with a drawing of a dog delivering her puppies. You can imagine the questions that came from that, namely, "The puppies come out of her BUM???" :) I tried explaining it briefly, but Eve ended by commenting in a very serious tone, "Chippers is NOT going to be happy about that."

Well, she probably wasn't, but I'm sure she was glad when it was all over and she had delivered SIX puppies - her largest and most varied litter ever - and hopefully her last. :) Eve and Eldon have just LOVED the puppies. It is so funny to watch Eve with them. She grits her teeth and addresses them with numerous superlatives, like "sweetie", "adorable", and "precious". They really are cute; two blacks, one chocolate, and three spotted, which I think is very rare.
