A Story by Eve

Is eavesdropping really that bad? Because I love being a mom that eavesdrops on my kids when they are playing or reading together - it's so dang cute, I can't help myself!
So the other night, I came home from mutual (after Jon had put the kids to bed - thanks, Honey), and heard Eve and Eldon talking. I crept closer to their room and could tell that Eve was "reading" stories to Eldon - in their somewhat dark room. She had some real books and was telling stories that went along with the pictures. I grabbed a piece of paper and started writing it down... this is Eve's version of a book called "Eleanor, Ellatony, Ellencake, and Me" by Cathy Rubin:

"Once upon a time in Mexico there was a child named Eleanor. She was a happy child and had a happy family.
Though she was tall, she couldn't reach the cookie jar. She couldn't even reach the top of her head!
Her Great Grama came from French, of course she was French. She said her name needed more aroma. She called her Eleanora.
Eleanor had lots of names, and some of her names weren't very pretty.
Her dad thought she was a movie star, but it didn't work. Singing on the stage made the crowd so proud. Her voice could soar-a, but when she got tired, she went to the car so she could relax.
Her mom said her name was cute in any way. She thinks of when she's a chef. The other chef in the brown shirt said, "This is no food you made, you Meatball Head!"
When her Great Grama came she said they give you names because they love you so..."

At this point, Eldon was interrupting so much that Eve couldn't concentrate. But seriously - "she couldn't even reach the top of her head"??? So funny! The book itself is actually very cute. But keep in mind, you might hear the chef call her "Miss Elbow Macaroni" rather than "you Meatball Head"! :)
