Jon has discovered yet another new berry in our yard. No it's not the salmonberry, thimble berry, black raspberry, salal berry, or wild blackberry (all of which we've found on or near the property)... it's the HUCKLEBERRY. Wow. Actually, credit should be given to Bubs for discovering it. He found some green berries a month or so ago and ate them, so we freaked out and looked online to see if they were poisonous... and it appeared that they were huckleberries. Last week, though, Jon noticed them turning a dark blue-ish purple color and decided to give 'em a try. Boy, are they good! He made some fresh huckleberry syrup (a handful of huckleberries + a few drops of water + a dash of sugar... pop it in the microwave and YUM!) for our pancakes on Thursday morning. Mmmmm. Sooooo yummmy. Mmmmm. Mmmmm.
Bubs is Berry Connoisseur now. Man, we thought Eve was a "Berry Monster". You should see Eldon inhaling the blackberries. It is so funny. I honestly don't know HOW he can eat them that fast. He always ends up w/ a very, VERY messy face and shirt and hands... but a big smile. He loves the "Bee-ee!"s - sweet or sour, clean or caterpillared, it doesn't matter to him, just as long as he can stuff 'em in his mouth as fast as possible.

Eldon is such a sweetheart. I wish I could see him more often so he could warm up to me. Hint hint...
